Did you know that false alarms are often easily avoided?
Reducing the incidence of a false alarm can be simple and means you may avoid an unwanted interruption to your holiday.
Consider these hints:
1. If a friend is looking after your home while you’re on holidays make sure they have a code for disarming and are on your call out list with the monitoring centre.
2. Insects – no matter how clean our homes are, sometimes insects can get into or walk across a sensor and activate the alarm. Spray around the sensor with surface spray.
3. Pets – remember to isolate an area of your home if your pets are kept inside and you do not have Pet Tolerant Detectors. If you do have Pet Tolerant Detectors do not put furniture close to the detector. If your pet gets too close to the detector they can activate the alarm. If you have a new pet and need to upgrade your detectors, just call one of our consultants on 1800 009 995.
4. Open windows – with the warmer months upon us, we may want to leave some windows open. Be aware that rapid changes in temperature and drafts can lead to false alarms.
Also, if you move a motion sensor or remove its cover or open your control panel, it will cause a tamper alarm. If this happens, ensure you call our monitoring station on 1800 009 995 to advise.
And, as a further preventative measure, we recommend an Annual Maintenance check on your alarm. One of our experienced technicians will review the alarm’s operation, check sensor locations and review environmental factors which could lead to false alarms.
